Also known as the ‘rice’ or ‘coral’ cactus, Rhipsalis are a family of cacti that grow epiphytically in their native tropical forest environment. There are over 35 different species of Rhipsalis, so they can come in all different shapes and sizes. This cactus has pencil thin succulent stems that with maturity can grow up to 6 feet in length. The thick skin of the stems does not produce thorns, but imperceptible bumps can be found on the surfaces of these plants. It prefers bright indirect light for best growth, but can adapt to low light settings for extended periods of time.
