While it’s common name may lead you to believe this plant is closely related to a String of Pearls or Hearts, you’d have more luck looking towards our Peperomia collection. The Peperomia Prostrata or ’String of Turtles’ is a rare variety of Peperomia with a trailing/vining growth habit and thick, round leaves resembling a turtle’s shell. Despite it’s succulent appearance this plant benefits from evenly moist soil that doesn’t dry out fully between watering and bright, indirect light up to full sun. This plant is extremely easy to propagate making it easy to encourage full growth or a great gift for friends- simply cut a few inches of vine (with a node or two) place on top of soil, keep moist and wait! You’ll have a whole lot of baby turtles in no time, and they might even produce those famous Peperomia ‘rat tail’ flowers!
