Perfect Red Watering Can
I wanted a red can for watering some of my exotic indoor & outdoor plants that need periodic systemic insecticide treatments to keep scale, mealy bugs, and, more recently, a devastating, Asian invasion of palm-destroying weevils, under control. I use this 5L red can exclusively for making up the fertilizer/insecticide cocktail, so that my other plants such as the natives I've planted to support the local ecology do not get exposed to these potent insecticidal chemicals. (I got a 9L green can to use for them.) I also didn't want a plastic can. Plastic self-destructs with time and sun exposure. Enter this perfect red-enameled metal can; it's everything I wanted: a perfect size, well-constructed, easy to carry and pour, and very very beautiful. The red color of my can alerts me to the presence of insecticidal residue. [And the skull & crossbones sticker (six crossbones to signify insects' six legs:) I attached to it alerts other users to steer clear of the red can for other uses.] I love my 5L red can, and I'm so glad I found it online at Ed's Plant Shop.
