An Update From Ed’s Plant Shop: What We’re Working On.

Healthy houseplants being prepared by Ed’s Plant Shop for NYC delivery and nationwide shipping

This summer has brought another period of change for Ed's Plant Shop, and we wanted to share a brief update with the people who have supported us along the way.

Since leaving our longtime Brooklyn studio, we have been working to adapt Ed's Plant Shop into a focused, more sustainable online business. That transition has come with challenges, particularly as the cost of operating a small independent business in New York City continues to rise.

For the time being, we are operating with a very small team, and some orders and customer-service responses are taking longer than usual. We know how important it is to receive clear communication after placing an order, and we are continuing to work through every order and message as carefully as possible.

We are incredibly grateful for the patience, encouragement, and continued support we have received from so many customers.

Taking Time to Strengthen the Shop

Recently, we made the decision to temporarily pause Google advertising. Paid advertising had become a major expense, and rather than continuing to focus only on bringing more visitors to the website, we felt it was important to spend time improving the business itself.

Over the past month, we have been updating plant listings, improving website content, strengthening our visibility in organic search, reviewing our inventory, refining customer communications, and improving the way we handle shipping and local-delivery updates.

We have also been working on our website experience and the behind-the-scenes systems that help a small team manage orders more efficiently.

Not every improvement is immediately visible, but together they are helping us build a version of Ed's Plant Shop that is more focused, efficient, and less dependent on expensive advertising.

Our goal is simple: to continue offering healthy and unusual plants while creating a more sustainable business that can serve our customers for years to come.

What We Are Focused on Now

Our current priorities are continuing to process existing orders, improving communication, purchasing inventory more carefully, and making it easier for customers to find plants and supplies that are presently available.

We are also placing greater emphasis on local NYC delivery. Local delivery allows us to personally prepare plants for eligible customers in New York City while reducing some of the complications that come with sending live plants through nationwide carrier networks.

At the same time, we will continue shipping eligible plants and plant-care products throughout the United States.

This is a temporary rebuilding period—not a change in how much we care about the shop or the people who support it. Ed's Plant Shop has grown and changed many times over the years, and we are approaching this next chapter with the same persistence and care.

A Few Ways You Can Help

Small businesses are often supported just as much by recommendations and community engagement as they are by individual purchases. For anyone who would like to help Ed's Plant Shop during this transition, there are several meaningful ways to do so.

  • Share Ed's Plant Shop with a friend or fellow plant lover.
  • Open and engage with our emails so more of our updates reach you.
  • Follow, like, comment on, or share our social-media posts.
  • Leave an honest review after a positive experience.
  • Read or share one of our plant-care guides.
  • Shop directly through our website when you are looking for your next plant or plant-care essential.

Shop and Support Ed's Plant Shop

Every purchase made directly through our website helps us care for plants, maintain essential systems, and continue building the next chapter of Ed's Plant Shop.

Shopping is never the only way to show support. Sharing the shop, recommending us to someone, or simply continuing to follow our progress can make a genuine difference.

Ed's Plant Shop began in Brooklyn and has grown into a community of plant lovers throughout New York City and across the country. We remain proud of what we have built and grateful for every person who has helped make it possible.

Thank you for supporting an independent business, for showing patience during this period of transition, and for continuing to grow with us.
