Philodendron Atabapoense: The Striking Strapleaf

The Philodendron atabopoense is one of our favorite new Philodenrons. Strap-shaped vibrant green foliage cloaks a secret underside. When flipped over, the bottom of the leaf is a rust-colored red with an illustrious shine and sheen. As a climber, it will grasp on to growing support (such as coco poles or moss poles). Although it is similar to the Philodendron billietiae, the foliage of the billietiae is much larger with longer central lobing. The contrast between the top and underside of the leaves is one of the plant's most distinctive features.
