Description
Epiphytic Air Plant Species
Tillandsia Tectorum is a distinctive air plant species native to Ecuador, recognized for its dense covering of trichomes that give the plant a bright white to silvery appearance. These trichomes assist with moisture absorption and protection in arid, high-altitude environments.
The inflorescence consists of a purple flower spike with lavender-colored blooms. Flowering occurs at maturity and is seasonal.
Care & Environmental Conditions
Tillandsia Tectorum prefers light, infrequent moisture compared to many other Tillandsia species. In dry climates or environments with low ambient humidity, light misting may be provided daily. In moderate humidity, misting can be reduced.
This species must dry quickly after watering. Light to medium misting is recommended rather than soaking. Prolonged exposure to high heat combined with heavy humidity is not suitable, as insufficient drying may occur. Strong air circulation is important, particularly when grown outdoors in humid conditions.
