Why Dry-Down Matters

Plants with succulent leaves, thick stems, rhizomes or other water-storing structures often tolerate longer intervals between waterings. Allowing the mix to dry appropriately can reduce the amount of time roots remain waterlogged, but it does not mean every plant should sit bone-dry for long periods.
