Ed's Plant Shop Approved: Gardening Gadgets
As a small plant shop, we love being able to shop our own shelves and use products that we've lovingly sourced from our suppliers. Sometimes we get to playing around in the dirt and think to ourselves, "you know, my project would be SO much easier if I had *fill in the blank*." After scouring around the shop for a solution, we occasionally head on over to Amazon to find the solution to our issue.
These gadgets, gizmos, and goodies are all tested by our shop members and receive two green-thumbs up for awesomeness. We're positive you'd dig (get the pun) these as well!
Never-Kink Metal Garden Hose
Our least favorite thing about gardening (yes, there is actually a thing) is when our hose gets tangled and kinked. You have to drop what you're doing, find where the kink is, and then wrestle a rubber hose until it's unkinked. That doesn't mean that another kink isn't going to present itself a little further down. That's why we love this never-kink metal garden hose. Wrestling with the hose is a thing of the past now, with the never-kink metal garden hose by Amoox.
We love this hose as it comes in several different lengths, perfect for gardens of every size. At the shops and in our home gardens, we've tossed our old conventional hoses and replaced them with the never-kink garden hose collections from Amoox.
Spider Farmer Grow Tent Fan
When we're working up a batch of new cuttings, starting plants from seed, or giving plants a resort-like condition in the grow tent, air circulation is crucial. Without proper air flow, issues can arise such as botrytis in the soil, fungus gnats, or the dreaded dampening off. There are lots of grow tent fans on the market, but this one racks up the awesome points in our book.
With the Spider Farmer Grow Tent fan, you not only move some air, you have options! This grow tent fan is fully loaded, complete with a remote control, oscillating setting, super quiet motor and waterproof construction. Don't feel like you're limited to only using this in a grow tent, this is perfect for backyard greenhouses, small hoop houses, or even just clipped next to your desk. We love it, and we are certain you will, too!

Aquacrest Water Filter For Plants
Did you know that plants are anywhere between 80-95% water (depending on the plant). Depending on your water provider, you may be dumping harmful, plant-unfriendly chemicals like chlorine addidtives to their soil. While these additives may not kill your plant immediately, the chemicals can build up in the soil and cause long-term effects. In our shop in particular, the fine Brooklyn Water System water always goes through the Aquacrest water filter for houseplants before gracing our dear plants soil.
Why The Aquacrest water filter for houseplants, though? The Aquacrest removes 97.3% of the yucky stuff in the water (chlorine, heavy metals, sediment, odors) while being super easy to hook up to the end of our standard garden hose. This garden water filter lets nitrogen, potassium and phosphates through while keeping the unwanted chemicals and odors out!
